Description | Nirmalapura Wind Power Pvt Ltd., 30% owned by Hayleys Group, listed in Sri Lanka, was planning the development of the 10.5MW Kalpitiya Wind Farm, in the coastal town of Kalpitiya, Northwest Sri Lanka. The project company and operator of the project was Nimalapura Wind Power Pvt. Ltd., subsidiary of Hayleys Group. The project was expected to generate 32 GWh annually. WindForce (Pvt) Ltd. was also reported as participating in the development, a company owned by two other project companies: Seguwantivu Wind Power Pvt. Ltd. and Vidatamunai Wind Power Pvt. Ltd. These project companies were owned by Akbar Brothers, Hirdaramani Group and Debug Group. The project was expected to be commissioned in September 2011. The plant is located on the same peninsula as a SENOK wind farm. The project was reported as under construction by Hayleys Group in June 2011, and the firm expected commissioning in September 2011. In the annual report of 2011, Hayleys reports construction of the plant was completed, but it was yet to be connected to the grid. The project is reported here as Financial Closed in December 2011, completion of the construction works, but still under construction due to lacking grid connection. Total investment was unknown. The project company received a loan from HSBC of 1,155 crore ($8.68 million) at LIBOR +3.25% according to its annual statement, with a tenor of 4 years - for which the land was mortgaged.
