Hazelton - River Road Active Transportation Upgrades and Road Works

The project will increase access and recreation in the Village of Hazleton by replacing approximately 500m of River Road which includes the construction of a bike lane and a new sidewalk. The road and adjacent sidewalk are cracked potholed and unsafe. The sidewalk is overgrown and uneven and cannot be used by people who have mobility challenges. Stormwater drainage in currently inadequate for larger rainfalls, and causes localized flooding in extreme weather events. River Road an important drive in Hazelton as it is one of two access roads to the Gitanmaax Reserve lands and is the only emergency services route. The project works will include: - road reconstruction; - installation of a bike lane; - installation of a concrete sidewalk; - installation of concrete curbing on one side of the road way; - line painting and signage; - driveway restorations; - storm mains, swale, manholes; - water and sanitary crossings; - storm ditch; - landscaping; and - other related works.
