Description | Hazleton Area School District is planning construction of a new elementary school to serve 1,200 students in grades one through five, with construction bids expected by December 2026. The district is also undertaking several capital projects including tennis courts with pavilion and restrooms, a new road at Hazleton Area High School, parking area improvements at Heights-Terrace and Drums elementary/middle schools, and a revamped Babe Ruth Baseball field at West Hazleton Elementary/Middle School. Additionally, the district is involved in an indoor sports center project in partnership with Mericle Commercial Real Estate Services. The district is managing these projects with a growing fund balance and bond rating to reduce finance costs. |
