Head Start Preschool Centers Closure Due to Government Shutdown

closed/partially closed

The government shutdown has caused a wave of closures of Head Start centers across the United States, affecting low-income children who rely on these preschools for education, meals, and therapy. Dozens of centers missed federal grant payments due on November 1, 2025, leading to indefinite closures or reliance on emergency local funding. The closures impact approximately 65,000 preschoolers and expectant parents, with centers in multiple states including Ohio, Arkansas, Iowa, Florida, and others affected.
