Description
Description | This project involves the replacement of approximately 20,000 sq. ft. of original flooring in three Health PEI facilities. The oldest of the three facilities, Wedgewood Manor built in 1983, will see a replacement of flooring in the main corridors, living rooms and nurses stations of the two resident wings. Souris Hospital (1988) will replace original flooring in the upper and lower clinical corridors of the hospital for a total of 4,500 sq. ft. Finally Margaret Stewart Ellis Home (1992), will replace 9,200 sq. ft. of original flooring in the main resident hallways and 22 resident rooms. Original vinyl composite tiles in the two long-term care homes will be replaced with a vinyl composite floor product or an easy care, non-glare sheet vinyl product, that is both home-like and dementia friendly. Souris Hospital will also replace their original flooring with a sheet vinyl product, however this will be in keeping with hospital specifications for cleaning and infection control in clinical areas. Replacing floors in all three facilities will improve patient, resident and staff safety, comply with infection control protocols and enhance a home like appearance within our long-term care homes. These projects further promote the COVID-19 economic recovery plan by spurring construction in western, eastern and central Prince Edward Island. |
