Description
Description | The Health Sector Enhancement Project for Bosnia and Herzegovina aims at improving overall results for non-communicable diseases as measured by proxy indicators and: (i) enhance health system efficiency through restructuring and strengthening of primary health care along the family medicine model; and (ii) strengthen the policy making process through the development and implementation of a system for monitoring and evaluating health sector performance. The project has the following three components; Component 1) aims at restructuring primary health care to address sectoral inefficiencies and make ready the sector to deal in a cost effective manner with core health issues such as the growing burden of non-communicable diseases (NCD). Component 2) will support ongoing efforts in the sector to build capacity to manage and implement essential changes in service delivery at different levels of the health system. The component seeks to build on development and implementation of health management training initiated under Basic Health Project (BHP). Component 3) will strengthen the capacity for data collection and analysis in support of sectoral policy formulation and to guide priority setting and resource allocation. The component will help introduce regular sectoral performance reviews supported by sectoral benchmarking and help modernize the role of the Public Health Institutes. |
