Description
Description | The FC module is the second phase of the project Strengthening the Health System - Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) in Togo (BMZ No. 2015 68 427), which has been implemented in the Kara region since May 2018. The health care of the population, especially in rural areas, is precarious. The chronic underfunding and vulnerability of the Togolese health system is particularly evident in the area of sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR). Maternal and neonatal mortality are still well above the national development target for 2022. This is where the FC project comes in. By strengthening the health system, particularly in the area of SRHR, a contribution is made to improving maternal and newborn health. The aim of the FC project is to improve access, use and quality of health services and to increase demand. The focus is on improving basic and emergency care in obstetrics. The FC project aims to renovate, expand and equip rural health facilities and district hospitals with medical equipment (component 1). Targeted training and communication measures accompanying the investment (components 2 and 3) support quality improvement and the creation of demand. The family planning services in the communities are also supported and expanded. The project sponsor is the Togolese Ministry of Health, Ministère de la Santé, de lHygiène Publique et de lAccès Universel aux Soins (MSHPAUS). The target group of the second phase of the project continues to be the rural and predominantly poor population in the Kara region, especially women of childbearing age and newborns. With a total financing volume of EUR 8 million, the second phase of the project can be implemented over a period of 2 to 3 years. |
