The Health System Modernization Project for Armenia aims to improve the organization of the health care system to provide more accessible, quality and sustainable health care services to the population, in particular to the most vulnerable groups; and to better manage public health threats. The four project components expand access to quality primary health care; improve the quality and efficiency of selected hospital networks; and lay groundwork for effective health sector policymaking and monitoring. Component 1 supports scaling-up of family medicine based primary health care reform. Component 2 optimizes and modernizes selected hospital networks. Component 3 strengthens of the Government capacity to develop and monitor effective health sector policies. Component 4 Project Management includes activities supporting the establishment of a supportive structure for the strategic planning and operational management of the project within the Ministry of Health (MOH); and the capacity to monitor and evaluate the reform progress and outcomes within the MOH.
