In the interests of public health, the partners developed a health, wellbeing and quality of life observation and promotion programme. They create cross-border health dashboards to obtain a better idea of the health of the cross-border population. These health and social indicators are presented in the form of topic sheets. To define the population of the cross-border area, the partners conduct surveys and cross-border health profiles at local, regional and even national level. They then focus on two particularly fragile groups: young people and elderly people. For young people, the partners created the Ecoles 21 concept, a cross-border network of 21 French and Belgian schools, developed for teachers and pupils to approach health promotion and sustainable development identically. For the elderly, the partners launched neighbourhood and health promotion services and studied the feasibility of a cross-border health promotion centre of competence.
