Description
Description | The consortium, which includes 3 partners from 3 countries, based on extensive experience with children, has identified a worrying increase in mental health problems among them due to systemic disadvantages and social pressures. Despite previous initiatives, urgent action is needed to implement effective interventions and support mechanisms. For this reason, a project HMHC was designed that aims to support the mental health of vulnerable children, including migrants, children with disabilities and refugees from Ukraine. Activities include resource development and education of parents, teachers and trainers about innovative methodologies. Objectives: - To enhance participation of 260 children aged 7-14 including children with disabilities, migrant and refugee children, children without adequate parental care and those who fled the war in Ukraine, by strengthening their coping skills, emotional regulation and resilience through innovative interventions - To equip 325 parents, teachers and trainers with skills and knowledge on how to provide support to children with mental health issues through Parent and Teacher Mental Health First Aid Training and by Designing Parent and Teacher Mental Health First Aid Toolkit - To combat stigma and misconceptions by promoting awareness of mental health in children through an online campaign containing 5 videos, 10 blogs and 50 social media posts to reach a wide audience of 60,000 people - To determine the existing obstacles to mental health support seeking in children by conducting a 4-month Needs Assessment, including 15 interviews per country and a distribution of 900 surveys to make recommendations from the findings - To improve children’s mental health support practices within the family, school, and extracurricular settings in 3 partner countries, by introducing practical recommendations for improving the relationship between children and parents, teachers and trainers as first responders. |
