Description | The National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion of CDC within HHS is committed to achieving the health promotion and disease prevention objectives of "Healthy People 2010" and to measuring program performance as stipulated by the Government Performance and Review Act (GPRA). This FOA addresses Healthy People 2010 priority area(s) of increasing quality and years of healthy life and eliminating health disparities in the focus areas of Access to Quality Health Services, Educational and Community-Based Programs, Injury and Violence Prevention, Mental Health and Mental Disorders, Nutrition and Overweight, Physical Activity and Fitness, Sexually Transmitted Diseases, Substance Abuse, Tobacco Use, and Vision and Hearing, and is in alignment with National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion performance goal(s) to achieve and maintain the percentage of high school students who are taught about HIV/AIDS prevention in school at 90% or greater, increase the proportion of adolescents (grades 9-12) who abstain from sexual intercourse or use condoms if currently sexually active, and increase the percentage of youth (grades 9-12) who were active for at least 60 minutes per day for at least five of the preceding seven days. |
