Description

Description

Chinese wind turbine maker Ming Yang Smart Energy Group Ltd will consider investing in an offshore wind project in the Hecate Strait off British Columbia, Canada, that will add between 1.5 GW and 2 GW of installed capacity. The project is a 50/50 partnership between Oceanic Wind Energy and Indigenous-owned company Coast Tsimshian Enterprises. Ming Yang will evaluate options for equity investment, debt financing, and strategic partnership support for development, construction, and long-term operation, subject to a 90-day due diligence period. The project site is west of Stephens Island in Northwest British Columbia, known for powerful and consistent wind resources. The project aims to meet growing electricity demand and support green hydrogen production to help British Columbia meet its 2030 clean energy targets. The initial phase has an Investigative Use Permit for studies to add between 600 MW and 700 MW.
