Description

The project will increase access to the community by constructing a safe access between the community of Bella Bella and the airport. The approximately 1.5 kilometre road that exists will be converted to a dedicated pedestrian/bike path and a new approximately 2 kilometre road will be constructed. The new airport road will be approximately have lasting economic benefits to the community, ensuring people and goods can flow freely. Converting the existing road into a multi-use secondary path will provide the community with community with a safe and sustainable route for pedestrians and cyclists. The project work includes: - construction of a new, approximately 2km road; - clearing and grubbing of approximately 2.8 Ha; - removal of overburden material (organics over bedrock); - rock excavation - rock fill material - installation of road subbase and base aggregate materials - pavement (approximately 11,000 sq.m) - line painting and signage - conversion of the existing approximately 1.5km roadway into pedestrian/bike path including no post barriers as necessary to delineate cycle route - ditching and culverts - road works include works to tie into the existing parking - related works.
