HER Democracy project aims at fostering a lasting culture of participative democracy by supporting the empowerment of minority women in Lithuania, Croatia, Bulgaria and across the EU to become active citizens and participate in decision-making. Through an intersectional and gender-transformative dual approach, the project will establish Safe Spaces for women that will implement and disseminate culturally sensitive educational programs aimed at teaching how to participate in democratic processes while Inclusive Community Dialogues will bring together minority women and men to co-identify barriers and co-design bottom-up solutions. Virtual European Transnational Policy Forums will elevate grassroots insights to European policy tables, while a participatory Report and a Digital Advocacy Campaign will raise awareness and disseminate HER Democracy’s recommendations to local, national and EU levels. The project will ensure that minority women are on the centre, being co-creators of education materials, debates and policy proposals. HER Democracy will develop citizen-led initiatives, tailored educational programs on rights and responsibilities, inclusive electoral awareness and tools for bottom-up decision-making cooperation. Implemented across vulnerable urban and rural communities, HER Democracy will reach 300 minority women in Safe Spaces, 75 participants in Community Dialogues and over 1 600 minority community members and 7 000 stakeholders through transnational forums, reports and digital outreach. Project partners bring together intersectional gender equality, minority rights and civic engagement to create a platform for minority women for bottom-up active policy participation. HER Democracy approach strengthens citizens, community and decision-makers cooperation, instilling a more inclusive, gender transformative and resilient participative democracies across the EU.
