Description | To improve the pedestrian use of Hermi's Bridge a redundancy system for the tension members will be provided through a system of cables incorporated within the structure along the tension members. Steel plates will be welded at select locations, to complement the cable system or will be used as an alternative to the cable system. Other improvements include: removing the lead-based paint and repainting the structure, replacing the substandard existing railing, deteriorated timber deck members will be repaired and replaced, columns will be repaired for strengthening and the steel cladding on the columns will be removed, repainted and repaired as needed. |
