Description
Description | Design and Construction: This project will include the design and construction of 1km of protected bike track in the eastbound direction as well as the removal of bus bays as a Transit Priority measure. The facility provides improved cycling access to a community centre located along the facility. This will provide a comfortable cycling connection from Trillium Line (LRT), Baseline Transit Intensive Corridor, and Heron Station (Southwest Transitway) to the retail stores along Bank Street, a major destination in the area. Additional work may include but not necessarily be limited to connections between pedestrian/cycling locations and transit system locations. An example may be supporting 40-foot diesel bus acquisition in relation to routes in the proximity of the Heron Road pathway to aid pedestrian and cycling traffic connectivity to the bus network. The expanded project activities are intended to further the City’s ability to advance safer community active transportation / transit priorities by leveraging the remaining program funding allocation as much as possible. This is consistent with Council’s strategic direction. |
