Description | Amtrak is preparing to expand its daily Hiawatha Service into Dane, Jefferson, and Waukesha Counties. This project, known as Hiawatha West, is the first phase of a larger effort to implement Amtrak service between Chicago and the Twin Cities via Eau Claire. Initial plans call for two daily round-trips with temporary stops in Pewaukee, Watertown, and Madison areas. The project is in the planning and environmental clearance process, with no final decisions made yet. The first step is the completion of a Service Development Plan to design a cost-effective project with a strong return on investment. |
