Description | Iowa DOT is replacing the interchange at Interstates 80/35 and Hickman Road to improve traffic flow. The new interchange will be a diverging diamond, like those found at First Street in Ankeny or Grand Prairie Parkway in Waukee. All ramps open and will remain so through to the end of 2026. The contractor is working in the middle of the interstate, so there should not be any disruptions for drivers until sometime in September. That's when the current traffic configuration will change. During spring 2027, Iowa DOT will close Hickman Road. Drivers will not be able go under the interstate as workers construct bridges. There will be a detour to take University Avenue or Douglas Avenue. |
