Description | In 2008, Hidrocanete S.A., a subsidiary of the, was granted the right to build and operate a small hydro power plant located in the province of Canete. The power plant was named Central Hidroelectrica Nuevo Imperial (4 MW). The license contract was signed in March 2010. The sponsor committed to invest US$ 7.5 million in the construction of the power plant. In 2011, Hidrocanete applied for carbon credits. Operations commenced in April 2012. In June 2012, the sponsor was awarded the right to build and operate another small hydro power plant named Central Hidroelectrica Sayan (10.6 MW). Located at the Huaura province, this power plant was in development stage as of December 2014. In November 2014, the IAIC approved a US$ 6.65 million loan to refinance the debt Hidrocanete incurred to build the power plant. |
