Description | In 1998, the management of Hidrolara granted a 4 year management contract to Spanish Aguas de Valencia to operate the water and sewerage system of Hidrolara which provided services to Lara state. At that time Lara state had a total population of 1.1 million inhabitants. The management contract began in April 1999. The estimated cost of the management contract was US$3.8 million which was agreed to be funded by InterAmerican Development Bank (IADB) through a loan. The IADB funding also included US$21 million for network rehabilitation. The management contract was canceled in December 2002, three months before its expiration. The cancellation was mutually agreed because contract goals were already met and the investment were on hold. None None |
