"This project focuses on expanding Highline’s Personal Mobile Service (SMP) network coverage across urban and rural areas, including favelas, in 23 states within all five regions of Brazil. The initiative is led by Highline do Brasil II Infraestrutura de Telecomunicações SA, owned by the US-based DigitalBridge group. A significant portion of the funding will be allocated to the installation of 145 telecommunications towers to provide coverage for 124 favelas nationwide and eight rural areas in Bahia, Maranhão, and Piauí. The remaining towers will cater to an additional 28 rural and urban areas. The total project investment amounts to approximately $378 million (R$2.3bn) and is financed through a successful debenture issuance by the sponsor company and a $12 million (R$65 million) loan from the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES).
