Description
Description | The project involves the twinning of Highway 104 between Sutherlands River and Antigonish, located in the north of Nova Scotia, eastern Canada, through a long-term design, build, finance, operate and maintain contract. The objective is to provide a continuous four-lane divided highway transportation corridor, addressing key safety concerns with the existing two-lane two-way highway section. The private partner will construct a 38km four-lane divided highway corridor, beginning at the end of the existing divided highway near Exit 27 at Sutherlands River to the existing divided highway just west of the Addington Forks Interchange (Exit 31) at Antigonish. The project includes 28 km of new two-lane twinned highway and 10 km of new four-lane twinned highway. The scope of works will also involve upgrade the existing section of highway, which will include repaving the entire section of old road and replacing seven existing bridges. The concessionaire will operate and maintain the new highway, plus two existing segments of Highway 104 (9.3km of existing divided highway between East River Road New Glasgow and Exit 27, and the recently completed 16km Antigonish bypass) for twenty years following completion of construction. |
