Opportunity The Highway 401 High Occupancy Vehicle Lanes project was listed in Infrastructure Ontario’s “Market Update - Spring 2015” as an upcoming P3 project. In December 2016, Infrastructure Ontario announced they are seeking proposals for technical advisors to provide, direct, and coordinate a broad range of engineering and technical services and deliverables to support the planning and procurement of the P3 project. The Highway 401 Expansion project will widen 18 kilometres of the highway in the western part of the Greater Toronto Area, from the Credit River in Mississauga to Regional Road 25 in Milton. Results The Project includes widening the existing six lane configuration to the following: 12-lane Core-Collector system from the Credit River to Winston Churchill Boulevard; 10-lanes from Winston Churchill Boulevard to the 407 ETR/Highway 401 Interchange; 12-lane Core-Collector system from the 407 ETR / Highway 401 Interchange to east of the James Snow Parkway; and 10-lanes from the James Snow Parkway to RR 25. Each section will include two High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes (one in each direction), with the remainder of the lanes (being general purpose lanes.
