Description | The Highway 8 Reconstruction project will rehabilitate and improve sections of the Northwest Territories Highway 8, also known as the Dempster Highway. Most of the project will take place between kilometre 222 and 242. The project includes embankment and subbase reconstruction, drainage improvement, gravel surfacing and production of associated quarry materials. The main purpose of the project is to rehabilitate/improve upon the existing gravel road; by doing so, it will provide efficient and safe driving conditions for the residents of Fort McPherson, Tsiigehtchic, Inuvik, and Tuktoyaktuk, as well as for resource development and tourism. |
