Description
Description | The Blood Bank Safety, Phase II project supplements the Blood Bank Safety, Phase I program (BMZ No. 2005 66 380), which is still being implemented. The second phase is intended to consolidate the results to date and supplement them with other important components. The aim of the FC module is to increase the population's use of safe blood transfusions in order to prevent the previously frequent transmission of diseases through blood transfusions. This is to be achieved by contributing to the establishment of a nationwide system of blood banks with modern quality standards. The project makes an important contribution to the development of the health system in Pakistan, as it aims to integrate public and private hospitals and blood banks into the new blood transfusion system and to move away from the previous practice of paid and ad hoc blood donations, as this does not guarantee sufficient quality. The necessary regulatory framework for a modern blood transfusion system is to be further developed through TC measures, as in the first phase. These measures are intended to have a systemic nationwide effect. The target group is the entire population of Pakistan. The total cost of the three-year implementation period of the programme is estimated at EUR 13.12 million, of which EUR 10 million will be financed by FC funds and EUR 3.12 million by Pakistani funds. |
