The Angola HIV/AIDS, Malaria, and Tuberculosis Control Project reduces the spread of HIV/AIDS in the Angolan population through a multi-sector approach that strengthens institutional capacity and increases access, and use of quality health services for prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and care and support. The project has four components: (1) Public Sector Response; (2) Health Sector Response; (3) Community Response; and (4) Project Coordination. Component 1 includes three subcomponents: (a) capacity building of participating line ministries and local government agencies; (b) support to line ministries to reduce the impact of HIV/AIDS, malaria and TB on their staff and dependents; and (c) support to line ministries to reduce the impact of the same three diseases on external clients of line ministries. Component 2 helps: (a) strengthen the MOH capacity to implement the national AIDS strategy; (b) improve the information and epidemiological surveillance system; (c) slow the expansion of the HIV/AIDS epidemic; and (d) mitigate the impact of HIV/AIDS on persons, families and society. Component 3 finances community-based initiatives.
