Description | In October of 2004, Veolia Water, the water division of Veolia Environnement, announced that it had won a 30-year concession contract for the rehabilitation and operation of a drinking water production site, including 9 treatment plants/wellfields, with a capacity of 515,000 cubic meters per day in the city of Hohhot, the capital of Inner Mongolia, with a population of approximately 2.5 million. To implement the contract, Hohot Chunhua Water Development Co. Ltd. was created as the project company in which Veolia Water took a 51% stake while the state-owned Hohhot Chunhua Water Development Co., Ltd. held the remaining 49%. Veolia Water invested RMB 355 million (US$42.9 million) for its stake in the project company. The assets of the Hohhot Groundwater Plant and Hohhot Surface Water Plant were reportedly worth 450 million yuan. The overall contract was expected to be worth around 600 million euro (US$737 million) to Veolia over the life of the contract. None None |
