Description | Hoima City Stadium is a flagship national sports infrastructure project in Hoima City, Uganda. It features a 20,000-seater main stadium, a 2,000-seater mini arena, a semi-Olympic swimming pool, a standard football pitch, indoor and outdoor running tracks, basketball and volleyball courts, and various supporting facilities. The project is implemented by the National Council of Sports under an EPC design-and-build turnkey contract executed by Turkish firm M/S Summa, with supervision by the Ministry of Works. Construction started on September 1, 2024, with an 18-month implementation period and a 12-month defects liability period. The stadium is expected to support Uganda's preparations to co-host the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and boost sports development, tourism, and economic activity in the region. |
