Description

Description

The Hokuriku Hydroelectric Project for Japan will add about 560 MW of capacity to its facilities in the western part of Honshu during the next five or six years. The project consists of the construction of hydroelectric generating plants with related transmission substations and distribution facilities. The project also includes the Arimine dam whose seasonal reservoir is approximately 1,000 meters above sea level, it includes six power generating installations, one of which is an extension of an existing power plant. The Company has been faced with power demands during seasonal industry and needs to increase its electric power capacity so the industries can shift from a seasonal type of operation to a year round utilization of their plants. The new hydroelectric system will parallel existing hydroelectric installations on all these rivers and it will contribute to increasing their peak electrical output during the low water season.
