An explosive political drama retracing the 2018 murders of investigative journalist Ján Kuciak and his fiancée Martina Kušnírová, which triggered a national political crisis. Slovakia, February 2018. Jan and Martina - a young couple are at home, making wedding plans over dinner, when they are interrupted by a knock at the door. Ján answers, and is immediately shot through the chest. Several days later, Jan and Martina's bodies are discovered, and the motive behind their murder couldn't be more obvious. As an investigative journalist, Ján was exposing corruption at the highest levels of national politics - was it the mafia, not wanting to compromise its ties to the prime minister? Or a local businessman, playing politics of his own? And more importantly - how will the entire country respond? On its feet or on its knees? Output of the project is TV miniseries containing 6 episodes of 52 minutes. Project is structured as a Slovak-Czech-German (potentially also French) co-production with broadcasting partners such as Czech Television and German ZDF, without participation of local Slovak broadcasters due to sensitive political topic of the story. Activities of the project will be securing the whole production of the TV miniseries with 6 months of pre-production, 60 days of shooting (10 days per episode) and 8 months of post-production (editing, sound and picture post-production included). Project will employ crew members and actors (at least 300 individuals from individuals) from at least 3 European countries and create product (6 episodes) to be distributed (broadcast and online stream) on international level.
