Information RVNL - II has come up with Hospet - Tinaighat - Vasco Rail Doubling Project with a ticket size of 3692.6 INR Crores. This project in Railway Track sub-sector involves The current status of the project is Notice to Proceed and is being developed through the EPC route. Economic/Social Impact of the Project The line passes through Bellary, Koppal, Gadag, Dharwad, Belgaum and Uttara Kannada districts of Karnataka. Bellary - Hospet region in Karnataka is the hub of the iron ore industry and earns valuable foreign exchange. The doubling project aims to increase capacity of the existing Rail network to handle additional traffic demand. It will improve movement of imported coal from Marmagao Port to the Steel industries and thermal power plants in Gulbarga, Yadgir, Bellary and Raichur districts. It will also facilitate faster movement of iron ore to Chennai and Marmugoa ports. The proposed doubling will also facilitate increasing number of passenger trains connecting important tourist destinations [Goa & Hampi], thus promoting tourism in North Karnataka.
