Description
Description | Slightly ill Covid-19 patients should be able to be cared for at home. Leading researchers from Sweden, Norway and Denmark will work together to develop a universal model that can reduce the risk of infection and meet the capacity challenges in our hospitals. If the infection can be kept from hospitals to a greater extent, the safety of risk groups, healthcare professionals and others who are hospitalised or visited increases. In addition, resources are released to those who become the most severely ill and to other patient groups. The spread of infection in society is decreasing and hospitals can then continue to carry out their regular activities to a greater extent. By equipping simulated home environments with the technology needed to care for mildly ill Covid-19 patients, the Scandinavian research collaboration will develop a universal model that can be used by several regions and countries. For the patient, this means a safer and more familiar hospital stay as well as a reduced risk of infection for other patients and healthcare professionals. Not all patients can be admitted to their own home, but hospitals will be more able to tailor the treatment offer for the individual patient while meeting the capacity challenges. The home care model will be used in the current pandemic and in future pandemics and outbreaks. |
