Description
Description | This project entails refurbishing and expansion of the recently acquired Centro Cardiaco-Renal Dr. Yunen in Santo Domingo (Hospiten Santo Domingo), and construction and startup of two new hospitals in Mexico. The Mexican hospitals are new designs and will be located in Cancun and in the Riviera Maya, south of Cancun in the fast developing zone between Cancun and Tulum. Hotel and resort development have a strong need for local, high quality healthcare infrastructure and services. Wherever tourism is a significant economic constituent, there is a large turnover of short-term visitors and seasonal residents calling for a specialized healthcare delivery model. Hospiten, a well-established company, has successfully developed such a model in Spain, and is now exporting it to the Dominican Republic and Mexico. Hospiten’s first hospital project outside of Spain was constructed in Bavaro, Dominican Republic, roughly four hours from Santo Domingo. After completion of construction and startup of the Bavaro Hospital, Hospiten purchased a majority stake in Hospiten Santo Domingo. The reconstructed Hospiten Santo Domingo will address both tourists' and local population needs. It will also support the Bavaro hospital when referral to a more sophisticated facility is required. The two hospitals in Mexico will be located in well developed or emerging resort areas. |
