Description
Description | The aim of the project is to launch a joint long-term programme of civil sciences “Ptačí Hodinka/Hour of Winterbirds” on both sides of the Czech-Bavarian border. After the launch, the outputs of the programme will provide yearly technical data on the state of the bird populations and, above all, tools to strengthen the sense of belonging and the common environment on both sides of the border. The annual programme will strengthen informal relations and direct cooperation among both contractors and local organisations and active individuals living in the project area, even after the end of the previous project. The project will be implemented in two phases: In the first, the preparatory phase, the necessary methods, software equipment and advertising materials are created for the successful launch of the Citizens’ Sciences programme, the second will realise the first year of implementation of the joint data collection (including strong public application), their evaluation and the interpretation and presentation of the results. The project will be completed with a final evaluation and a recommendation for further development of the programme. Both project partners, ČSO and LBV, participate in all phases of implementation, whereby the contribution of ČSO represents the extensive experience of managing citizen science projects and, in particular, the scientific evaluation of the data obtained (ČSO is a methodological position in this field throughout Europe), with the LBV bringing best practice experiences and practices in the field of application and public involvement. A necessary component for the successful achievement of these goals is the creation of a local network of employees from the ranks of local organisations (from the non-governmental sector and authorities) who will promote participation in their environment, and of active individuals, “citizens scientists”, on whose involvement the whole concept stands. An integral part and the necessary success condition of the project shall be a large public, which represents the border regions as a coherent region. |
