Description | The HPCL Rajasthan Refinery Limited (HRRL) is India's first integrated refinery-cum-petrochemical complex located in Pachpadra. The project is a joint venture between Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (74%) and the Government of Rajasthan (26%), designed with a capacity of 9 MMTPA. The refinery was in its final commissioning stages with a budget of approximately ₹79,459 crore, nearly doubling from the original estimate of ₹43,129 crore. A massive fire broke out in the Crude Distillation Unit (CDU) on April 20, 2026, just a day before the scheduled inauguration by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, leading to the postponement of the inauguration event. |
