Description | VS Hydro developed the 1.5MW Upper Korawaka Oya small hydropower plant. The project company was Santak Power Pvt. Ltd. The project consisted of a Francis Turbine. The project feeds of the Upper Korawaka Oya river, located in Kandy District. The turbine was supplied by 3G Hydro Power (China), the generator was supplied by Stamford (UK) and Marali Motori (Italy). The transformer was supplied by Lanka Transformer (Sri Lanka). The Control system was supplied by Hydro Power International (Sri Lanka). The substation was supplied by ABB (India). The project was commissioned December 2005. Total cost was ESTIMATED at US$1.5 million, based on conservative US$1 million/MW.
