Description
Description | "The ""HI EU"" project, standing for ""Hrvatska Inicijativa za Europsku Uniju u Školi"" (Croatian Initiative for European Union in School), is a groundbreaking educational initiative aimed at elevating the understanding and awareness of European Union matters among educators and students within the Croatian education system, specifically targeting ISCED levels 1 to 4. This project is driven by the overarching goal of combating widespread misinformation and enhancing the comprehensive grasp of Europe's essence and the integration process. At its core, HI EU is structured around three specific objectives: 1. Enhancing EU Knowledge: The project seeks to deepen the understanding of EU fundamentals among school teachers, covering the history and progress of European integration, the EU's institutional framework, and its strategic outlook to 2050. This objective focuses on equipping educators with essential knowledge and skills pertinent to the EU. 2. Fostering EU Belonging and Proximity: Through an immersive Study Tour to Brussels, teachers experience the EU first-hand, interacting with EU functionaries and visiting key institutions. This direct exposure aims to instill a sense of belonging and closeness to the EU among the participating educators. 3. Modernizing Civic Education: The project emphasizes the co-creation of teaching materials and methods incorporating EU matters, aiming to modernize civic education curricula. This approach broadens the European understanding among students, fostering a more informed and engaged future generation. To achieve these objectives, HI EU undertakes a range of activities: • Development and delivery of blended training programs for teachers, conducted by EU experts, to enhance their EU knowledge. • Organization of study tours to Brussels for selected teachers, providing practical exposure to EU institutions and operations. • Co-creation and implementation of EU-focused teaching materials and methodologies in Croatian schools." |
