Description
Description | The UK Government has reset the HS2 high-speed rail project, updating cost estimates and revising delivery dates. The project now forecasts a cost between 87.7 billion GBP and 102.7 billion GBP, with the first passenger services expected between 2036 and 2039, and full completion between 2040 and 2043. The operating speed has been reduced to 320 km/h from the earlier planned 360 km/h to align with European and Japanese high-speed rail services, aiming to cut costs and shorten delivery time. The reset aims to simplify the project and improve productivity, led by the senior team behind the Elizabeth Line project. |
