HSHS St. Elizabeth's Hospital Emergency and Outpatient Surgery Expansion

HSHS St. Elizabeth's Hospital in O’Fallon, Illinois, is investing $116 million to expand its emergency department and add a new outpatient surgery center. The project includes a $66 million expansion of the emergency department, inpatient nursing unit, and support services, as well as a $50 million investment in a new outpatient surgery center, diagnostic imaging center, and medical office building. The expansion will add new inpatient beds, emergency treatment rooms, advanced imaging equipment, and a new cafeteria and kitchen area. Construction on the outpatient surgery center and medical office building began in summer 2025 and is expected to be completed by October 2026.
