AWT purchased the assets for RMB5.61 million (US$692,000) from the state-owned Yuanquan (Huai Yuan) Tapwater Co.. Huaiyuan City had a population of around 1.29 million.

Description	In August of 2005, Asia Water Technology Ltd (AWT) of Singapore purchased an existing 10,000 cubic meters per day capacity water treatment plant in Huaiyuan City, Anhui Province under a 20-year concession agreement. AWT purchased the assets for RMB5.61 million (US$692,000) from the state-owned Yuanquan (Huai Yuan) Tapwater Co.. Huaiyuan City had a population of around 1.29 million. To operate the plant, AWT incorporated a wholly-owned subsidiary, Bangbu Xinya Water Services Co., Ltd. Along with the provincial government’s plan to cease the opening of new wells and close off existing wells in a bid to switch the city’s source of water from well water to treated tapwater, the plant’s current operating capacity of approximately 40% to 50% of potential was expected to increase to 90% within 3 to 5 years. http://www.listedcompany.com/ir/asiawater/newsroom/AWT-Announcement-Huai_Yuan.pdf
