The project comprises the construction of Hubei Songzi pumped storage power station, located in Xiajiaping Tujia Township, Songzi City, Hubei Province, China. The sponsor is State Energy Group Changyuan Power Co. The investment reaches $1.127 billion (8.198 billion yuan). It started construction on December 5, 2024. It is a major energy project in the ""14th Five-Year Plan"" of the National Energy Administration and was surveyed and designed by the Central South Institute. The power station has an installed capacity of 1200MW, an annual power generation of 1.34 billion kilowatt-hours, and is equipped with 4 single-stage mixed flow reversible pump-turbine units with a single unit capacity of 300,000 kilowatts.
