Description | The Hudson Tunnel Project involves the construction of a new rail tunnel under the Hudson River. Two custom-built tunnel boring machines (TBMs) are en route to New Jersey to build about one mile of the new tunnel on the New Jersey side of the Hudson River. The TBMs will be assembled at the base of the Palisades in North Bergen and will bore two parallel tunnels simultaneously, installing concrete lining as they advance. Each machine is expected to complete about 30 feet of tunnel per day. |
