This program is designed to equip students with the strategic and technical expertise needed to address global humanitarian challenges. It emphasizes critical areas such as disaster risk management, sustainable development, resilient infrastructure design, and innovative technological solutions.Tackling these complex issues requires an interdisciplinary approach that blends engineering expertise with a thorough understanding of social, cultural, and environmental factors. By fostering this integrated perspective, the HEART master’s program aims to develop future leaders capable of delivering sustainable and impactful solutions to pressing humanitarian challenges worldwide.The Consortium’s vision is to achieve this goal through the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master (EMJM) program, which promotes academic excellence, international collaboration, and cross-cultural exchange. The initiative unites five globally recognized universities renowned for their leadership in engineering education and research: the National Institute of Applied Sciences (INSA) of Lyon, France (the coordinating institution); the University of Twente, Netherlands; the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, Spain; the National University of Science and Technology Politehnica Bucharest, Romania; and Drexel University, USA. In addition to these esteemed universities, the HEART Consortium includes key associate partners such as Bioforce, a humanitarian training center in France, and two globally influential NGOs: Humanity & Inclusion and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), known for their significant contributions to the humanitarian field.
