Hungarian Centre for Heterogeneous integration and Packaging - Creation of Hungarian competence centre in semiconductors The European Chips Act aims to create a resilient European semiconductor supply chain and ecosystem by close cooperation between Member States and building on their strengths. The Chips for Europe Initiative under the Chips Act aims to support technological capacity building and innovation in the EU, with a particular focus on SMEs. To achieve these objectives, it is essential to identify and synchronise national and EU competences in the semiconductor industry. The project will set up a semiconductor Competence Centre in Hungary to provide Hungarian market actors with access to technical, business, legal and other knowledge they require, to training packages (by promoting existing training courses and developing their own material), to infrastructures (design platforms and pilot lines), to knowledge available in other EU Competence Centres and to support other Member States with the competences available in Hungary if needed. Through its communication and dissemination activities, the Competence Centre will ensure the flow of information between the Chips JU and the Hungarian industry, thereby also channelling Hungary into the semiconductor ecosystem. The project consortium consists of three members: Bay Zoltán Nonprofit Ltd. for Applied Research is the consortium leader, and the other members are Budapest University of Technology and Economics and HUN-REN Centre for Energy Research. The members have extensive experience, well-trained professionals, state-of-the-art infrastructure, a wide network of contacts and existing collaborations in the fields of semiconductor-related R&D&I, technology transfer and education. The main target groups of services provided by the Competence Centre are semiconductor industry related SMEs, large companies, research institutions and organisations operating outside Hungary, including other Competence Centres.
