Description | The Hunter Valley Hydrogen Hub (HVHH) project is a 50-MW renewable hydrogen production facility located next to Orica's ammonia manufacturing facility on Kooragang Island in Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia. It is expected to produce 4,700 tonnes of renewable hydrogen per year, replacing around 7.5% of Orica's natural gas consumption at the site. The project recently reached final investment decision (FID) and was awarded AUD 432 million in production credits under Australia's Hydrogen Headstart programme. US hydrogen company Plug Power Inc will supply its GenEco proton exchange membrane (PEM) electrolysers for the project. |
