Description | The Hunter Valley Hydrogen Hub is a 50MW green hydrogen project in Newcastle, New South Wales. It involves the use of renewable electricity to produce renewable hydrogen via electrolysis, replacing natural gas in the production of low-carbon ammonia and ammonium nitrate at Orica's existing ammonia manufacturing facility on Kooragang Island. The facility is expected to produce approximately 4,700 tonnes of renewable hydrogen per year, displacing around 7.5% of Orica's natural gas consumption. |
