Description | The Hunter Valley Hydrogen Hub (HVHH) project is the largest green hydrogen initiative in Australia, developed by Orica. It utilizes renewable electricity to produce hydrogen, gradually replacing natural gas in Orica's production of low-carbon ammonia and ammonium nitrate, which are key materials for Australia's mining, agriculture, and industrial sectors. Once fully operational, the project is expected to generate about 4,700 tonnes of renewable hydrogen annually, reducing Orica's natural gas usage at Kooragang Island by approximately 7.5% and cutting emissions equivalent to removing around 26,500 vehicles from Australian roads each year. |
