Hunter Valley Operations Continuation Project Amendment

The Hunter Valley Operations (HVO) continuation project involves amended development applications for the north and south pits at Lemmington. The amendments include a reduced mine plan to avoid extraction from gas domain one in the north pit, a reduction in total run-of-mine coal by about 220 million tonnes, and a decrease in the annual production limit at the south pit from 18 million to 13 million tonnes per annum. The life extension of the mine is also reduced, with HVO North's life cut by five years to 2045 and HVO South's by three years to 2042. Despite these changes, the mine remains the largest in NSW's history. The project is currently on public exhibition and seeking state and federal approvals.
