Hurghada International Airport Development Project

The project involves the Egyptian government inviting private sector companies to bid for the operation, management, and development of Hurghada International Airport, the country’s second-busiest airport. Under the proposed public-private partnership model, ownership of the airport will remain with the state, while a private operator will be responsible for improving efficiency, service quality, and capacity. The initiative forms part of a wider plan to introduce private participation across up to 11 airports in Egypt, to attract foreign investment, modernise airport infrastructure, support tourism growth, and ease the financial and operational burden on the government, with advisory support provided by the International Finance Corporation (IFC).
