The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is awarding $26 million to the state to eliminate flood risks and buy out 75 damaged residential properties in Henderson, Polk, and Yancey counties through the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program. The state government has also appropriated $1.104 billion for recovery, and Congress has agreed to send an estimated $9 billion over time as part of a disaster package. |
